Background about the role

We are in need of a qualified actuary to join us as a Partner for our Indian actuarial consulting business, encompassing employee benefits and insurance service offerings. This is a unique opportunity to lead, contribute and shape the future of an emerging and innovative actuarial practice. The role of a Partner offers an opportunity to participate in the firm’s growth.

The role will initially involve working in and growing the employee benefits practice. However, a Partner is also expected to contribute to all other areas of the actuarial consulting practice, both in India and internationally.

Job description

  • Lead and manage the actuarial operations for North and West regions
  • Develop strong business relationships with the existing clients
  • Provide oversight to other staff, actuarial, non-actuarial and other support staff
  • Business development, including sales, preparing business proposals and meetings with the prospective clients
  • Contribute to the development of new service offerings
  • Participate in research initiatives and author technical papers and reports for publishing in reputed journals
  • Manage relationships with the vendors, suppliers, and business partners

Experience, qualifications and other attributes

  • Qualified actuary; must be a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries of India
  • Must be a resident of India
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong project management skills; should be able to work and prioritise often unrelated tasks
  • Extremely proactive
  • Excel and VBA knowledge is necessary; knowledge of R or Python is highly desirable
  • Must be willing to travel, within India and abroad

Job description

  • Providing administrative and logistical support to various team members across India
  • Personal assistance services to two senior managers, including scheduling and managing meetings
  • Communication with the clients on behalf of technical consultants
  • Maintaining up to date task lists and keeping track of timelines around existing tasks

Experience and qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • 5 to 10 years experience in a similar profile
  • Extremely proactive
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; experience of PowerPoint desirable
